For the past three years, CWTSatoTravel has partnered with the Best Defense Foundation (BDF), Delta Air Lines, and Michelin to honor World War II veterans by providing them the opportunity to return to some of the most historic battle sites where they bravely fought. This effort is led by BDF, a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to celebrating and serving veterans through several different programs, including the Battlefield Return program.
With our 75-year tradition of providing travel services to the U.S. military, it is fitting for CWTSatoTravel to further support our heroes. This year we were proud to be among the sponsors who helped 50 veterans return to the Normandy battlefield on the 80th anniversary of the battle. This was the final return to this location due to the advanced age of World War II veterans.
The night before veterans departed on Delta’s special charter flight to Normandy, they attended a send-off dinner, which a few CWT employees were fortunate to attend, including Greg Harkins, Raphael Pasdeloup, Laura Kistler, Josh Geis, and Julie Lesjak. Our team was joined by three Delta employees as well as two veterans, including SSgt George K. Mullins whom we sponsored to return to Normandy this year.
The evening was altogether inspiring. It was a privilege to partner with Delta and Michelin on giving back and ‘taking care of those who took care of us.
In July we will share a video of this year’s Return to Normandy when we receive it from The Best Defense Foundation. In the meantime, enjoy the photos from the dinner below and check out Raphael’s recount of his experience on LinkedIn.
