What are USO lounges?
The USO is a charity organization that works in helping service members and their families. As a part of their mission, it operates USO lounges. These lounges are found in airports all over the world and provide free food and drinks, free WiFi, nice seating and a quiet place away from busy airport terminals.
Who can use USO lounges?
Access to USO lounges is fairly restrictive. Here is who is permitted entry into USO lounges:
- Active duty service members
- Reserve service members
- National Guard service members
- Families of service members
Retirees and veterans, disabled or not, are not allowed entry. Travelers will need to be traveling to access the USO lounge, which means you'll need to provide a boarding pass or proof of same-day travel. USO lounges are run by volunteers, so hours and amenities may vary from each location.
